Membership Canadian Peacekeeping Veterans Association respects the service and sacrifice of all and accepts all Veterans as regular members. CPVA built its reputation assisting and advocating on behalf of all post WWII Veterans. We have found the practice of including specific groups of Veterans leads to the exclusion of other is discriminatory, as post WWII Veterans have been excluded from benefits since 1945. The Canadian Forces and Veterans Affairs have experienced great difficulty in applying benefits equitably because they have assigned inappropriate values to the place served rather than based on the fact that they did serve. What all citizens have in common, who've served in the Canadian Forces since WWII is that they have been continuously on Active Service (except for service in Canada from 1947 to 1973). Prior to 20th of November 1973, only those who served overseas in; France and Germany during the Cold War, the Korean War, and Peacekeeping missions were on Active Service as deemed by Order in Council under authority of the National Defence Act. Since the 20th of November 1973, the Regular component of the Canadian Forces, in Canada and overseas has been on Active Service by the same authority. This includes those who served during the Gulf War, Somalia, East Timor, Bosnia and Afghanistan. By Law all theatres have equal status, qualifying for benefits under the WWII "Veterans Charter" and the Korean War "Veterans Benefits Act." As you know, despite being equal under the Laws of Canada, WWII Veterans and to a lesser degree, those who served during the Korean War were treated better than other post WWII Veterans. We look for your support by joining CPVA as we continue making a difference to all Veterans and their families. Join today!
